HH The Dalai Lama

Dear loved ones,

I received many fantastic gifts for my 26th birthday. One of which was a ticket to attend the Dalai Lama's talk in Melbourne. Upon his entrance into the hall, I felt and overwhelming wave of love and positivity which brought tears of joy to my eyes. I felt healed. I felt re-assured that all was going to be well from this point on. I looked around and quite apparently I wasn't the only one. Everyone I knew or could see had tears in their eyes. This is the power of love. It raised the level of consciousness in that room.

His Holiness spoke to my soul when he said

• This life is meant for happiness not for misery.

• He says there is a limit to material wealth. Purchasing an item satisfies you for a limited period of time as we have seen in this world today. We then crave for more. Ultimately the soul becomes hungry for more. As you can see by the nature of the world today that people have become limited and the soul is hungry for more. materialism no longer satisfies.

• To be able to move towards world peace we need to control our emotions. The only way to do that is to control the mind.

• Do not attempt to control other humans because violence that results from doing so will be thrown into your own backyard. I think we see that in the USA.

• He is all about negotiation. He has encouraged the US to speak to Osama directly and peacefully seek his view point, perspective and arrive at some form of compromise. HH says that if you enter a negotiation but the purest of intentions and fearlessness then be confident that the outcome will be right and positive. If you carry fear and distrust within, it will manifest itself during the negotiations. He says that fear leads to anger which leads to suspicion…hence violence in the world.

• The media people should have a nose the size of an elephant trunk. Their role is to see the truth and educate the public. Therefore they mus t be able to note whats infront but smell the back too which means see past the façade into the depths of truth particularly in a democracy.

• A scientist does not want to be too attached to his research and findings, HH does not want to be attached to Buddhism because then you create a mine and yours. This is how religions have drawn boundaries and created divides as opposed to uniting the world in love and peace. Religion has become a belief commodity. The very nature of the human being is to hold onto that which they have been brought up to believe. Challenging and threatening their very foundations. From here, violence is born
  

• Children today are numb and desensitized. they are insensitive towards the pain and plight for the world. Who made them this way? The previous generation. Their parents. Hence the need to awaken their senses

• The generation who sits in the 20-30 age bracket is the new future HH says.

The other areas of emphasis were:-

• Inner disarmament and outer disarmament

• Compassion and compromise

• Outer peace stems from inner peace
